ART IS MESSY!

ART IS MESSY! Please do not wear your Sunday best on art class day.  We paint, chalk, color, clay, etc. a lot.  And I don't want any phone calls that little Bobby has ruin his favorite shirt.  We do wear aprons and they are always available if a student wants to wear one.

Finally getting started!!

Procedures, rules, and seat assignments  are under our belts and  we are finally getting started with some ART!
5th, 4th, and 3rd are reviewing the Elements of Art and drawing examples of each so that we can talk about and describe the artwork that we make!
2nd grade is learning about symmetry and very soon about the symmetry of butterflies.
1st grade is working on drawings of ROBOTS.  We will send these drawings to Ellis Middle School when we are finished so they can make them in 3D forms.
Kinders will be learning about COLORS all next week.

Welcome Back Warriors!

I'm looking forward to a great start to the new school year. So get ready to get messy, (which means you may not want to wear your best outfits on Art day).  See you soon.  Mrs. Sircy

Art Club Field Trip

On Saturday, March 21, 2015, we will be taking the Warriares and the Art Club on a fieldtrip to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and The Frist Center for the Visual Arts.  The performance at the Schermerhorn begins at 11:00 a.m. and will feature the music of Mozart while depicting his life as a musician.  The symphony will partner up with Street Theatre Company for this performance.  You can find more information on the Nashville Symphony's website: http://www.nashvillesymphony.org/tickets/concert/the-adventures-of-young-amadeus?deeplink=buytix&prodid=4370&perfid=4371

After the performance, we are going to visit The Frist Center for the Visual Arts.  Mrs. Sircy and I will be sending out an itinerary for that day soon.  This will include what time to meet at school that morning, times for activities while we are downtown, and what time we will return.  We will also be using school transportation (buses) to transport the students on that day.  We are asking that students pack their own lunch for that day.  We will eat in between the Schermerhorn visit and the Frist visit.

We are hoping to have at least 10 adults to chaperone along with me and Mrs. Sircy.  The students' tickets are paid for; but, chaperones will need to pay their own way.  The cost for this event is $22 per adult.

Please let me and Mrs. Sircy know if you would like to chaperone and whether your child will be able to attend.  Also, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.  We are very excited!
